glock maritime cups

Glock Maritime Cups - You may or may not know that there are two different versions of spring cups available for the trigger pin installed in your Glock. One is the type commonly installed on Glocks at the factory and the other is called the "Maritime Spring Cup". (Part number G3073)

A common misconception is that these cups are designed for Glocks to shoot underwater. Contrary to what you've probably already seen on YouTube, this is extremely dangerous and even if you're not injured, you've probably damaged your weapon. Glock does not recommend firing a Glock or any pistol underwater without proper training.

The real purpose of these cups is to allow water to drain out of the cartridge passage a little faster during normal use, getting out of water and working on dry land, as well as allowing proper firing pin travel should this occur. After emptying the pistol, some water remains in this area. Glock does this by creating cups where some of the plastic is removed, reducing the sealing effect that regular cups have when covered in water.

The benefits of these optional parts are that if you find yourself operating in a marine environment, they can improve the reliability of your weapon by allowing for more reliable bomb hits and therefore fire. As for the cons, there isn't a lot of record on the longevity of these cups, but since there is 50% less plastic in the connector cup inside the firing pin channel, it can be assumed that it will be. Double the wear of the cups over regular cups. me

There is plenty of documentation of Glocks running thousands upon thousands of rounds in endurance tests, and yes, you know they are running regular trophies.

For myself, I tend to run standard spring cups on my personal carry Glock. Currently, I see no need for these cups for anything other than use in harsh conditions, and we all know regular cups burn well in pouring rain (been there and done that). Unless the gun is actually submerged, then exits the water and needs to be used unloaded, I see no real reason to sacrifice the proven durability of standard cups and the longevity provided by the system they are installed in.
